It's only rock n roll
Thank you for your condolences. A favourite uncle; utterly devoted to my precious aunt; forester; mountain rescuer; climber; farmer; rocker; occassional city whiz-kid; believer beyond reason in his wayward niece (me); died on Saturday after an unfairly-weighted fight with an aggressive brain tumour. His death leaves a gaping hole behind. I'll be away to Scotland for a few days, doing what I can to help with feeding animals, walking dogs, etc. Back after the proper and appropriate observances and rituals of farewell.

My dear and only uncle lost his fight against lung cancer last April. Appallingly sudden. I am so sorry. Nothing can actually prepare you for this kind of thing. My prayers and condolences.

I know it's so cliche to say this but I do hope he's now in a better place where no one is sick and there are lots of mountains to climb.

So sorry for your loss. I recently had a grandfather pass away with a long list of superlatives just like your uncle, and I know how big that hole can feel. May the wind and the Scotland hills and clouds bring you some comfort.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
When i lost someone close to me- i was given a copy of this poem. I found it helped. I hope you find it of some help too. Sent with kindest wishes x

hey sis. I'm very sorry about your dad, i really am. But you know what, my teacher shared with me what she read in some book... she said that some people believe a person dies when his mission in this world is already done. But, if you feel like he hasn't, then maybe it's up to you or someone else to do it... I know you'll get on with it!
